Airfield Lighting Repairs and Renovations
Naval Air Station, Whiting Field, Florida
Project description is as follows:
- Replacement of all electrical components from the load side of the main panels in airfield lighting vaults B2976 and B2938 throughout the entire airfield.
- Scope included airfield lighting, constant current regulators, airfield circuiting, fire alarm systems, ventilation systems and lighting protection systems. In addition a new Medium-Intensity Approach Light System with Runway Alignment Indicators Lights (MALSR) and new MALSR vault with emergency generator back up were installed on North Field Runway 14. Services also consisted of revisions to the existing airfield lighting control system and design of NFPA 780 compliant lightning protection systems on three airfield lighting vaults.
- The work also included extensive replacement of airfield lighting systems and provision of new systems at North and South field of Naval Air Station Whiting Field. Systems include edge lighting systems for runways, taxiways and parking aprons, threshold lighting, the above mentioned MALSR system, controls, helipad perimeter lighting, wave off lighting system, signage and windsocks.
