For the past four years, AVCON, INC. and its employees have donated time and dollars to support the families at the Ronald McDonald House in Orlando, Florida. With 10 volunteers and an Italian Dinner theme, AVCON participated in the Share-a-Meal program. The employees also collected and donated aluminum pop-tabs that help the local organization purchase much-needed items. The Ronald McDonald House provides a “home-away-from-home” for families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at local hospitals. To learn more about donating, click here.
2014 Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers (FICE) Engineering Excellence Award Winner, Grand Award in the Transportation Category for the SR-600 Pavement Rehabilitation project in Volusia County, Florida.
2013 Florida Department of Transportation Commercial Service Airport Project of the Year Award for the Extension of Runway 9L-27R project at Orlando-Sanford International Airport, Sanford, Florida.
2013 Special Project Award, Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida, District 2 Winner of Excellence in Paving for the Northeast Apron and Taxilane project at Herlong Recreational Airport, Jacksonville, Florida.
2012 Gold Honors, National Award for Excellence in Concrete Pavement in the Industrial Paving category, received from the American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA) for the Boeing Expansion, Site Development Program in N. Charleston, South Carolina.
2012 Award Winner of the SEC-AAAE General Aviation Airport Project of the Year for the North Apron Rehabilitation project at Bob Sikes Airport, Crestview, Florida. This project, initiated by Okaloosa County Airports, was the first Florida airport project to implement a new fuel-resistant asphalt specification identified as “P-401-FR,” a prototype specification.
2012 Winner of Excellence in Paving by the Asphalt Contractor’s Association of Florida (ACAF) for the Runway 5-23 project at Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport, Jacksonville, Florida.
2011 Award Winner of the SEC-AAAE General Aviation Airport Project of the Year for the Asheville Regional Airport North General Aviation Fill Project, Asheville, North Carolina. This project combined the resources and talents of multiple organizations to design an EPA-encouraged, beneficial-use program utilizing coal ash for fill material.
2011 Ray Brown Airport Pavement Award Winner for Quality Asphalt Pavement Construction from the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) for the Runway 5-23 project at Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport, Jacksonville, Florida.
2010 Award Winner for the Illuminating Engineering Society’s (IES) Air Carrier Airport Award for the Rehabilitation of Taxiways E and F and Associated Connectors project at Orlando International Airport, Orlando, Florida. This project emphasized the development of a trend-setting LED lighting circuit technology.
2008 Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers (FICE) Engineering Excellence Award Winner, Grand Award in the Transportation Category for the Terminal Ramp Expansion project at the Orlando-Sanford International Airport, Sanford, Florida. The key elements of this project included quality PCC paving with innovative draining solutions.
2008 Merit Award Winner of the Orange County Design Excellence Awards for the Osceola Brownstones project, a multi-unit residential development in Orlando, Florida.
2004 Honorable Mention from the Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers (FICE) for Taxiway B East and Associated Improvements at the Orlando-Sanford International Airport, Sanford, Florida.
