SR-429 Extension to Vick Road
- The project site is located in west Orange County, due west of the City of Apopka. SR-429 is a four-lane, divided, rural expressway with a north-south orientation terminating at Orange Blossom Trail (US 441). Vick Road is a four-lane, urban collector with a north-south orientation terminating at Old Dixie Highway (CR 424).
- This project realigned and extended the existing northbound off ramp from SR-429 providing a direct connection to Vick Road. As part of this work, fully signalized intersections at Old Dixie Highway and Orange Blossom Trail were provided. Additionally, the existing northbound SR-429 off-ramp was converted from a one-way northbound off-ramp to a bi-directional north and southbound roadway providing direct access from Vick Road to SR-429. The existing bridge just south of the SR-429/US 441 intersection provided a grade separated crossing over the Florida Central Railroad (FCRR). This bridge was widened to accommodate the realigned northbound and southbound lanes along SR-429 and Vick Road.
- The proposed work included providing additional turn lanes at both the US 441/SR-429 intersection, as well as at the Old Dixie/Vick Road intersection. Additionally, the existing westbound left turn lane at the existing southbound SR-428 on-ramp was demolished and removed.
