Garner Elementary School

Winter Haven, FL

Cost $40M

Project Description

Garner Elementary School in Winter Haven, FL (Polk County) houses approximately 850 students in grades Pre-K through 5th. Design for the large addition to this public school began in 2021 followed by construction and was ready to re-open by the Fall of 2023. AVCON provided the key elements of plumbing and fire protection design for the entirety of the new campus. Garner Elementary undertook an expansion as the school was originally made up of three smaller buildings, which AVCON is also helping to renovate. The main building now consists of a cafeteria, media center, classrooms, and administrative offices.

Fire protection design included a fire pump, piping, sprinklers, and standpipes for the building in accordance with Florida fire codes and standards. The plumbing portion of the project included all sanitary waste, vent piping, storm drain piping, potable hot water, tempered and cold water piping, and gas piping within five feet of the exterior building walls.
