AVCON Project Wins 2019 Engineering Excellence Award

We are thrilled to announce that one of AVCON’s projects, the Intermodal Terminal Facility and Automated People Mover at Orlando International Airport, was selected as a Grand Award Winner for the ACEC-FL Engineering Excellence Awards in the Transportation Category. In addition to the Grand Award, this project received the Grand Conceptor Award recognizing the project as being 2019’s best overall engineering accomplishment!

This project was a massive combined effort between HKS Architects, Atkins, and AVCON bringing together multiple disciplines including civil, structural, mechanical, fire protection, electrical, geotechnical and construction engineering, all supported by the architects, planners, environmentalists, surveyors, and construction managers. In addition to the design of the passenger drop-off road, signage, marking, signalization, and roadway lighting, AVCON was responsible for all structural elements of this project.

This project received the Grand Conceptor Award recognizing the project as being 2019’s best overall engineering accomplishment.

This award is a huge achievement for our Team, one that we are immensely proud of. Those who were involved in this project and helped bring it to life prove once again that AVCON and its staff are committed to Transforming Today’s Ideas into Tomorrow’s Reality in every way. With a new terminal facility, parking garage, and an above ground tunnel system in place for future connecting rail lines, this project allowed us to serve one of our oldest existing clients in its continued pursuit of growth and innovation.
