AVCON is deeply saddened by the passing of our colleague and friend, Arthur “Art” Waczkowski. His presence will be missed, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of working with him.
With more than 40 years of experience in airport project management and construction inspection, Art was a seasoned professional in the field. He served as a Construction Manager and Senior Inspector, applying his extensive knowledge across all phases of construction. His expertise encompassed building construction, hangar and roof repairs, flexible asphalt and rigid concrete pavement projects, underground utility and stormwater systems, tree clearing and wetland removal, security fencing, and roadway and airfield signage and pavement marking.
Art served as a Capital Project Manager with the Jacksonville Aviation Authority before joining AVCON’s Jacksonville office. He was also a long-time member of the Jacksonville International Airport Management Council, remaining actively involved until he faced health challenges.

Art was raised in a Navy family and lived in Morocco, Sicily, Malta, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, California, and Virginia before moving to Florida. He enjoyed rock and blues concerts and was an avid football fan with season tickets for the Florida Gators and Jacksonville Jaguars. He served on the Board of Directors and as President of the Gator Club of Jacksonville.
Art’s legacy in aviation and infrastructure lives on through the many projects he helped bring to life. We are deeply grateful for the time we shared with him and for the invaluable contributions he made to AVCON and the broader airport community. Though he is no longer with us, the impact he had on our team and the aviation industry will always be remembered.
